Our mission is to equip disciples to catalyze movements among Muslims. This is accomplished by pairing theoretical (training in the skills and practices of church planting) with experiential (living and doing ministry in an area that is predominantly Muslim) to help better prepare people for fruitful work among Muslims.
Our desire is to help each student develop both the skills and confidence in connecting with the culture and background of Muslims that will lead to fruitfulness in ministry. Students will learn key biblical ministry skills that Jesus taught His disciples and immediately practice in a local Muslim context. Our goal is to see disciple making movements started among Muslims here in the United States and in the nations of the earth.
The Head. We will teach you everything from the biblical basis for starting disciple making movements to what you need to know about Islam.
The Heart. We will help you develop the Christian character and disciplines necessary to abide in Jesus and bear much fruit.
The Hands. You will learn the skills necessary to share your faith and make disciples effectively.
The Detroit Movements Residency was established by Antioch Community Church Ann Arbor. Antioch Ann Arbor is part of the Antioch International Movement of Churches, a group of churches connected through the power and work of the Holy Spirit and by a desire to love God, love one another, and love those who don't know Jesus.
Since 2013, God highlighted both Hamtramck and Dearborn (both in the greater Detroit area) as strategic locations to serve immigrants and refugees as well as equip disciples interested in serving in a Muslim context.
This is a unique time in history. There has never been an openness to the gospel among Muslims like we are seeing today. That is why we are excited for the Detroit Movements Residency!
